WHAT IS GOING ON HERE ????

recently have received calls from alabama to indiana, hawaii to north carolina, and yes even my very own savannah ga. seems when veterans inquire about ILP, VRC's are telling them 'ILP provides stuff like handrails for baths and showers. it's not about providing you with (fill in your own needs here. in my case it ended up being a greenhouse).
at first i thought it was just a local phenom. VRC's were telling that to vets here until they were put on the spot, then they sang a different tune.
but now i'm hearing the same from all parts of the country.
is this being generated from the central office as a means to reduce spending ?????
well here we go again. sacrifice the vets, they won't say anything.....
I FOR ONE AM FED UP.

GAO Report from Jan 2009 - VA VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION AND EMPLOYMENT

GAO Report from Jan 2009
VA VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION AND EMPLOYMENT

Better Incentives, Workforce Planning, and Performance Reporting Could Improve Program http://www.gao.gov/new.items/d0934.pdf

not sure but think the senate vet affairs committee should probably be on the distribution list (appears only House members requested the report). also those Members who are interested in their disabled constitutents. rather than print one i'm going to order one, but their copy is there for the asking. after a quick browse, several stats JUMPED OUT.

page 10 - pie chart that shows 21% of veterans entering voc rehab entered the INDEPENDENT LIVING PROGRAM track jan 07 - may 08.

don't have the #'s for FY08 yet, but the VA reported voc rehab participants for the following years:
FY 07 90,593
FY 06 89,126
FY 05 94,330
FY 04 96,009

not sure but think 21% of 90,000 is about18,000.
IS THE PIE CHART CORRECT?

another VA report shows Independent Living Program stats as:
FY 07 2540
FY 06 2839
FY 05 2693
FY 04 2689
FUZZY MATH ????

either the pie chart should read 2% OR the ILP #'s are about 16,000 short AND if so, the Congressional cap of 2500 ILP cases/year was surpassed.

ARE THEY STUPID..DO THEY THINK WE ARE..OR IS THIS A CONSPIRACY TO DENY DISABLED VETS BENEFITS???

Steve from Alabama writes: "When I spoke to the VA rep on the phone, before I went to fill out the application, he flat said that ILP does not provide things like computers, etc."

Not only do they provide computers....but farm tractors...snowblowers....greenhouses....dog training....electric gates....enhanced computer systems...ergonomic furniture....whatever it takes to serve the needs of the disabled vet

IS THERE SOME FUZZY MATH GOING ON ???

VR&E Service conducted a site visit in June 2007 at the Atlanta Regional Office (RO). The Savannah outbased office was not visited, but the site visit report indicated the Atlanta RO was performing well overall. At that time Savannah had three case managers and an average caseload of 142 each. Savannah currently has four case managers with an average caseload of 110 each.
In FY08, the average number of days a case was in evaluation and planning status for the Atlanta office was 93. The FY08 target was 105 days.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
using fy 07 data (fy 08 not yet provided to me)
46 ILP's X 93 days = 4278 days
mac 1463 days
donald 613 days
jj 643+ days
total for 3 vets 2719 days
guess the other 43 were really expedited
